Family Portraiture ~ Palm Beach County_South Florida

Wow I haven't blogged in a while! I used to be so great about staying on top of it! Lately I have been putting all of our sneak peeks on our facebook business page, check it out ~

and "like us": www.facebook.com/athenascottphotography

Ok so for this session, I photographed the G family.  This was my second time photographing them in the past 2 years.  I truly enjoy being a "family photographer" who grows with families because there is something so magical about getting to witness children growing up and changing through the years! Kids also have a tendency to get to know you and feel more comfortable around you as a photographer (if they've seen your face before) and will no longer see you as this strange person with a gigantic camera that covers your face lol.

That said, I had a fantastic time with this family. The boys have grown and matured so much since the last session.  They remembered me and were just too sweet for words.  I loved getting down on their levels and just chatting with them.  I got a chance to learn that big brother likes to play basketball, little brother is almost 3 and they both adore Chuck E. Cheese! Those were fun moments!  I seriously loved this session and the location was absolutely gorgeous!

Family and Baby Portraits~Lake Worth, FL

Doing family portraits of extended family members can definitely have it's advantages when photographing small children.  For one, small children (even babies) are often times more comfortable with a new situation when Grandma and Grandpa come along for the ride!  They are less likely to be shy or clingy and there are more helping hands throughout the session (whether it be for wardrobe, props or whatever).  Who needs an assistant when you have the trusty hands of Grandma and/or Grandpa to help make the baby laugh or in the case of this session to make me laugh.  We literally had a blast for the short amount of time that we were together.

Sometimes I meet new clients through referrals and don't get to meet them in person prior to the session, so I always love getting to meet them in person and seeing them for the first time...as my mind races and swirls with photography ideas.  When I first laid eyes on this baby boy I was captivated by him and exclaimed, "wow he is gorgeous"  to his Mama.  I was so excited to photograph him.   His personality really matched his cuteness (during the session he was curious, calm, happy, and pensive), every shot of the shutter was magical and I think made the camera smile.  Some of my favorite memories from this session where when I was photographing little boy K with his Aunt and turned around to see his Mama swinging a huge branch and the entire family jumping up and down in excitement to get his attention, another moment was at the end when one of the family members busted out with some music and everyone was dancing, it was surly a great time!

Baby Photographer - West Palm Beach, Florida

Is determined to post up new blog posts for ALL of the sessions I've done in 2013!!! Can't wait to blog this little handsome guys session too!!!!

Newborn Photography_Wellington Florida

Newborn photography is one of the sweet joys of being a portrait photographer! Babies grow up and change so fast in the first year, so to be able to capture the teeny tiny newborn stage is priceless!!! They come out so small and beautiful!

For this session we did a nice variety of lifestyle portraits (inside the house) and traditional portraits (outside in the backyard).  I was privileged to capture the birth of this handsome little guy and so to do his newborn/family portraits 10 days later was such a treat ;-) I will be posting the birth soon!! Stay tuned for the updates!

Back on Blogger

After over a year and a half at a different blog site (Word Press), which is actually still live at the moment, see www.athenascottphotography.com,  I have decided to redesign my website and web presence, as well as come back to Blogger!!! Still deciding if I should bring over my past posts from the previous blog.  Not sure if that is even possible and will have to look into it.  I will be updating this blog with some of my most recent sessions and will also post more information about my Best of 2012 Photo Contest.

Here is one of my favorites from one of my last sessions.  I have always loved this look - black and white with tinted vintage color.  I fist captured this little guy as a newborn ;-)

My Maternity Session ~ Lake Worth, FL

I was very excited to have my maternity photos done! The only problem was that I couldn't photograph myself and the rest of my family with my tripod...it would have been to complicated!! So I decided to set up all of my photo equipment (backdrop, light stands, lights, etc.) in my home & had a good friend use my pro Nikon camera to snap away!! It was a super fun experience and it truly put me in my maternity mama's shoes and allowed me to feel just how they do when I am photographing them!  I am so used to being behind the camera that when it was my turn to be in front of it I felt so awkward! There's a good reason why us photographer's prefer to be hidden behind it!! In spite of my awkwardness I think we were able to capture some pretty awesome shots!!!  In all, I am so grateful and blessed to have these memories of our 5th & last pregnancy!!! Thank you Bethany Avila!!!
